Hurricane Katrina

Disaster aid provided by Hope In Action was rushed to Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana and Texas. Quick response was possible due to the staging of relief items in Angleton, Texas before Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast.

Hope In Action provided in excess of 1 million pounds of disaster aid, including soup, milk, pasta, pudding, vitamins, personal care supplies and medications.

Medicine and food provided by Hope In Action was sent to the Houston Astrodome where 23,000 evacuees from the New Orleans Superdome received shelter. Hope In Action provided food for a temporary feeding facility in New Orleans Central Park. Both relief workers and displaced victims were fed hot meals.

Evacuee Relief Aid

Hope In Action also provided food, clothing and personal care items for Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Arkansas and Indiana. Flood and fire evacuees in eastern Kentucky received clothing provided by Hope In Action.
